Days 30 and 31 - Canada Day, eh!

Creeps can be tough on the knees if I don't get weight in the right place. A tough exercise, but I have played a lot of field hockey in my days so used to being down low like that.
Chest Dips are what I expected. I can do 2 sets and then I start to fail after about 4 reps.  I really feel it in the front of my shoulder, around my collar bone. I will persist with these and believe that, like the Pull-Ups, I will be banging these out come day 90.
V-sits are really painful and very difficult. I do manage to perform them with a semblance of form but after the Leg-Ups I find that I am cramping in my left hip. I've had this problem before, so need to keep stretching that off every day.

Had a bit of trouble finishing off my milk and egg whites last night. First time I've been full for ages. Got the lot down and chomped through the veggies an hour later too. Such a change from the mountains of crap I used to eat!

July 1st is Canada Day, a day for BBQs and beers.
I, however, work a US schedule and so am at work (clearly not working very hard, but here nonetheless!), I get July 4th off.
Since the triathlon last week I have not been firing on all cylinders, so last night, with my wife out on the town, I took the opportunity to go to bed early.  I woke up when she came home and then at about 1am I woke up again. Outside in the street there was a crazy party going on. It seemed all the neighbours were drinking at home celebrating their non-work today and there was loud music and a lot of loud voices. I eventually got back to sleep but then slept through my alarm and missed my exercise-window this morning.  I'm going to do it at the gym (last day before membership freezes, will weigh myself today as have not done so since Day 1, it's just a number after all!) at lunch-time (has to be, as I'm locked-in to a bike ride after 5), I don't have my bands with me so will have to use weights instead today (perhaps not the worst thing to change it up now and then; kind of like the height of the standing ovation Patrick referred to on video?).

Normal behaviour today would be sitting on a patio with a beer.  I have not really been craving beer, even last weekend on the indulgence (I had a few glasses of wine), but today it is around 30 degrees and a long weekend. I would normally spend fistfuls of cash and have nothing to show for it on Monday morning, but this time is different. I am slowly realising that by abstaining I am really not missing out on much.  Going to meet up with friends later and watch them eat a bunch of ribs. I will enjoy my soda water and fresh fruit!

  1. Happy Canada Day (belatedly). Sounds like just 31 days has changed your life quite dramatically.

Here's to your no gym lifestyle!

  2. I am a ex field hockey player too. 20 years or so I played so I know the "down low" aspect.
