It's been busy!
Friday night was the first time I joined others out for dinner during PCP. I had an apple and banana in my backpack that I had bought earlier, my wife boiled 3 eggs and brought them with her (she was at home prior) and I bought a small carton of milk. We had to wait an hour for a table at this new Southern BBQ joint, so went to the pub next door. I ate my dinner there and drank milk rather than beer.
Thank goodness I had eaten because the smell of the BBQ joint was quite something. I forgot to take a picture of the beef ribs, which were very impressive, but here's some brisket...
I nibbled a nanometre of it. Salty but moist and spicy. I ordered a plate of steamed vegetables that I didn't eat. The first effort was covered in an oily sauce and the second had been heavily salted, so I told the waiter not to bother; I had been very specific about what I wanted at the time of ordering. On top of this the portion size was laughable; the profit-margin on side dishes must be enormous!
I had water, tea and a coffee to get me through the 6 hours that we were in company. I was sorely tempted by the red wine at the table but dug-deep to resist. I had a great time, but you do realise how different sober conversation can be.
Saturday - up early, good workout and a bunch of housework done. Lunchtime took us to the soccer game and we enjoyed it under glorious sunshine. I even managed to sneak my fish sandwich, veggies and apple by stadium security! The rest of the day was spent shopping for clothes, we had a great time and walked a few miles in the sun too. Quiet night at home (no 8MA yet).
Sunday - Groceries stocked up at 8am. Weekly pic up on flickr. Beautiful day again so I'll get outside a bit later on. 8 Minute Abs to come tonight - my wife agreed that we should do this daily ritual together from now on, so that's one more factor to help keep me on track :-)
