Day 20 – Thyme Management

A wise man once told me that the secret to happiness is to make a series of commitments and to stick to them, no matter what.
This struck a chord with me at the time, and as we get deeper into PCP it is increasingly reinforced. Promise yourself to: Go to bed and get up at specified times; eliminate salt, sugar, excess oils, and foods that have been interfered with; follow an exercise plan to the letter (there are a few more but this pretty much covers it).
By doing these things, no matter how hard they may seem in the weaker moments, I have been (despite hunger-fuelled bouts of road rage whilst in evening traffic) extremely happy for 3 weeks now.  I know this is going to continue and the cost:benefit of this experience is 100% worthwhile.

This morning, after working out and enjoying breakfast, I had enough time to make myself a very tasty, PCP compliant, shrimp and veggie noodle dish that I have just savoured for lunch.  On the weekend I found stripping thyme and rosemary leaves slowly from their woody branches to be most therapeutic, both at the time and later that evening when both I and my guests enjoyed our meal.  Tonight I will suffer a trip to Costco (that I would most likely have put-off to another time pre-PCP), because I know that the pay-off outweighs the hardship.

The same wise man also told me that discipline will give me freedom.
Having a morning routine sets me up for the day and creates time for other things.

Unless you experience these things they are merely words, but baby-step by baby-step we can change our habits. I knew this is why I enrolled in PCP, but today I’m really feeling it!

  4. No need to apologise. I ran 10 herb-based wordplay titles past my wife, to see which would make her laugh, but no pun in ten did...
