Day 12 - Don't bite off more than you can chew

Sunday morning PCP exercise was a treat. Got into the skipping again and continued to work on the crossovers. They weren't coming to me as freely as the day before but soldiered through and I must have done a load of extra skips working on the skill; I really want to master it before moving on to another trick.
All sets done and some deep burns experienced in the push-ups and the davincis. I've been sure to observe the specific time intervals prescribed and have just about decided which resistance band is of most benefit for which exercise.
Feeling all good about myself after this workout I got a message about hockey practice, and although I was not originally planning to attend, I went along. This was a BIG mistake. Within 5 minutes, during a very light drill I felt the tweak in my hamstring and hopped off to the bench. A good number of expletives later and 90 minutes of sitting and waiting for the practice to finish (so that I could get a ride home), I was able to shower and then ice my leg. I elevated it and iced it all evening, I need to go get a compression bandage today.
Fortunately I have a physio appointment scheduled for Wednesday (a follow-up for my shoulder, a tennis injury from before PCP) and so will have some treatment on the hamstring then also.  I don't think it is strained too badly and I am eager to heal quickly, especially as I am entered into a Sprint Triathlon in two weeks.  My annoyance and frustration is boiling over right now, but there is nothing I can do but heal. I will bring my ice pack to work tmw and continue to treat myself at my desk.
I will continue to exercise on PCP plan - 1 legged skips (a chance to strengthen the left leg!), lay off the squats/lunges and just do the upper body work.  I have been following the diet religiously and will continue to do so. More groceries needed, perhaps I shall make a humble pie...

  1. Crikey - take care of the leg. Stretch the hammy out well when you can.
