Physio verdict - she says there's hope for the sprint triathlon on the 25th, great news! Continuing to ice the leg morning, noon and night and now have some small movements to incorporate into the PCP exercise.Exercise - Very mild skips, didn't want to jar the hamstring. Did as many as I could on my left leg, but I always lost my rhythm after 50 or so. Did another batch on 2 legs then back to the left leg only. It took some time but got through the 800.
Squats are even more unrealistic with this injury. Physio told me to lean against the wall and go very slowly only as deep as I'm comfortable; this means I'm barely getting to 45 degrees, but it's clearly best to heal properly, there will be plenty of burning leg sets before the end of August.
Really focusing on form for everything else and using the bands correctly. I need to go heavier on the bicep/thumbs up curls next time, but stuck with what I had today and really made sure the elbows did not move an inch.
I have a cool new exercise with the resistance bands, using ankle straps, from the physio. It's to help my shoulder, in truth it is to strengthen my back some more and reduce the strain on my shoulder, during my tennis serve. It's the repetitive serving that has caused the problem.
Diet - Slightly less this week but I'm adjusting okay so far. I'm getting better at the timings so that self-destructive beer and chicken-wing me is kept at bay. I'm often on the verge of desperate hunger but then a glass of water, some work, or a cup of tea is just enough to get me to my next food intake. Today was way easier than last week and yet I have a smaller ration, perhaps the body is learning?
Have felt a bit down and disconnected from PCP the past 2 days, but that's just the injury-blues compounded by not being able to fully continue working to this goal. I did not feel like writing anything as I had nothing positive to add yesterday. All I can say is that it's great to read the exploits of my fellow voyagers and I'm glad we all have one another to keep the mind focused. I'm sure there will be plenty even more challenging days to come so let's all keep blogging, as even the most nonsense entry may be just what someone else's doctor ordered!
Glad to hear that there is some improvement and that the blogging helps. Good luck with small changes every day.
