Day 82 - On becoming an RPM spinning instructor

"Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your interest in becoming a cycling instructor.  I have attached some information for you to carefully read through.  Please feel free to ask me any questions.

If after reading these documents, you are interested in proceeding we need to set up a time to meet and have a movement audition.  Basically this is a time for me to see you move and participate in one of my RPM classes.  Following the class we can talk about your next step to becoming an RPM Instructor..."

So, at 10:30am I had my movement audition, this is the first time I had ever been nervous about a spin class!  It went well though and after the class I received some (mostly good) feedback about my technique.  I am now being proposed for the formal training programme.  I'm feeling pretty good about the whole thing.  After the recent triathlons I decided that I need to train more specifically for each discipline, if I want to improve my times, therein I figure if I'm going to attend these classes then I may as well be paid for it.

After the class I used the gym to do my strength training, there was no need for jump rope today.  I'm never usually in that gym at that time and I have to say I won't be planning to be there using the space/equipment at that time in the future.  Too many people doing nothing.  I always have my headphones in and I always grunt, groan and gurn my through PCP workouts, I have to, they're tough!  Today was no different but people look at you funny if you're seen to be making any effort. I just smile afterwards and they quickly look away, why are we all so scared of each other?

  1. I can safely say that I have never done a spin class in my life. Do they help?

  2. I loved spin pre PCP, clearly did nothing for me but that's a whole other life now. Well done for taking it to the next level and actually going for teaching. Respect
